Craft Offerings at Dollar Store and Dollar General

If your a beginner card maker and you don’t have a big budget. Many items can be found at Dollar General and the Dollar store. You might be asking how do I know this? I’m a frequent shopper of Dollar General and the Dollar Store. I occasionally use their products making cards.

There are many products to choose from at Dollar General for example: Card bases with envelopes (pkg. 20), jewels (big and small, various colors), variety of stickers, glue, water color paints, pens, color pencils, puff paint, water base Acrylic paint and so much more.

At Dollar Tree there is mounting tape, glitter paper, foil paper, stickers, glue, hot glue sticks, paint, watercolor paints, color pencils, pens and if your lucky stamps. There’s more and way too many to list them all.

Not all Dollar Stores and Dollar Generals are created equal. You may need to travel to many shops to get that one thing you want. However, the cost factor out weighs the cost of a the major craft stores. It is also a major save when it comes to ordering products on line.

I have used most of all the products offered by both of these store’s/companies. I still use some of their products to this day.

When you become a bit more confident in your card building skills, you can add to your stash with more popular products. I will admit that card making is not a cheap adventure, if your wanting all the latest tools and popular products. Building your stash takes time. Keep in mind that there will always be some new product or some new stamp. I recommend picking only that makes you happy and something that you think you will use over and over again. I don’t recommend picking the items that are trends. I can tell you I have been building my stash for year’s and I’m still not where I want to be. However, I am closer to my goal and so will you. But that’s another story for another day. This is suppose to be about craft supplies and where to get them as a new card crafter.

I can tell you that there are just a few things you may need that are not available at either of these stores. That is a bone folder, a score board, a paper trimmer and a guillotine. The bone folder isn’t exactly needed but it’s a nice addition to secure mounting tape or reinforce the fold of a card base.

I can also tell you from experience you want to watch for those extraordinary items that just pop up out of the blue at either of these stores mentioned. For example: Washi tape. (I was super excited to find it and I walked around like a kid in the candy store.)

Technically this was suppose to be about my favorite Dollar store crafts. I can tell you that story was too short for this platform and to tell you the truth I wanted to get away from making this all about me. I wanted this to be about you too.

If you really want to know the answer to the question……my most favorite craft item in the whole store(s). It’s…… It’s…. ITS STICKERS! I love stickers and I will happily admit I’m a sticker hoarder. I love my stickers so much that some don’t even stick anymore. Sad isn’t it. I grieve over the loss of just one sticker. So if you can imagine.

Thoughts on Craft room Outfits

Hello Readers,

Let’s talk about what we wear in the craft room from shoes, to outfits.

Here at Colorful Dimensions 2 Art feedback is welcomed at any time. All opinions matter and you are more than

welcomed to leave a comment. What are your thoughts as what to wear in a craft room? Are the outfits the same when

worn to town or do you change? What kinds of shoes do you prefer to wear in the craft room?

Here at Colorful Dimensions 2 Art wearing stretch pants or what most people call yoga pants in dark colors works

well along with light weight, short sleeved shirts in various colors. This makes for more easier movement and less

restriction. The more one feels restricted in clothing is less likely to be productive. It’s the same with shoes. Low

heal and soft impact shoes do well vs. wearing high heals! The more comfort the better and low heal shoes prevent

falls. Here at Colorful Dimension’s 2 Art is working on finding a good apron or smock to wear that is cute, stylish,

loaded w/pockets and a possible ketch all lip at the bottom. This would help with the prevention of ruining of our

favorite clothes. Let’s face it not all products come out of clothes.

Colorful Dimensions 2 Art conducted a survey of a fellow crafter and here’s what she had to say when questioned:

  • Q. Do u have a particular outfit(s) you wear while crafting? Why?
  • [email protected] say’s “No, At least I don’t think I do.
  • Colorful Dimensions 2 Art ” haha, Okay an honest answer.” “Your not worried if your clothes get ruined by working on art projects?”
  • [email protected]: “Oh, no. I do wear an apron if I know it will be messy (paint pour, etc.)
  • Colorful Dimensions 2 Art: “Okay that concludes the short survey.”

So there you have it dear reader’s. That concludes todays post.

Time Management In Difficult Times

Photo by Andrea Piacquadio on Pexels.com

The last few months have been exceptionally difficult. Finding motivation to work in the craft room, work on WordPress, even just basic household chores after love ones go on to the great beyond has become just a motion. Before all of the loved ones passing, my play time consisted of using the smart phone calendar to schedule all of the chores that needed to be done. (If you wish to know in great detail of which app’s I’m using just drop the question at the end of this story.)

Great practice for learning to schedule business stuff that also has to be accomplished. Now I know that my loved ones wouldn’t want me to dwell on their passing forever so using this App has helped me move forward to do what needs to be done. For the most part I’ve gotten all chores done. This has left me with extra time to wok behind the scenes to learn everything about blogging on WordPress. I want to mention that I have several drafts in place and not a one of them has made the junior league. I can plop a thought down and forget about it or I can add to it and the awesome part nobody ever has to know.. (unless I publish it.) I love WordPress and I continuously come back to word press. I have one other blog spot but it doesn’t put me at ease like WordPress does. If your thinking of blogging I recommend WordPress. They say WordPress works better if one adds pictures. I like pictures however I think that if it’s kept to one or two per post it might save on frustrating you, the reader! What do you think? What are your thoughts?

As for the rest all I can say is learn as you go. There is a lot to learn and it’s impossible to learn it all in one day. Take notes and I recommend getting a lot of notebooks. (Lol)

You could probably say that this post is about time management. Did you guess right? Between chores and what I really want to do has become a war in its own right. The chores are starting to over run how much time I have to work on business, crafts and much needed shopping. Who doesn’t love shopping? Ya, that could easily take a huge chunk in its self. Business plans can also have a tendency to take over too. So.. I’m working on a plan to where I a lot only so much time per day per project. What doesn’t get done is saved for the next day. Here, one has to be careful because one could easily lose ones place on what was worked on last. By placing a note on your calendar’s list that the project is still being worked on is helpful. It’s not perfected. It’s still a work in progress. In the mean time, now, has also become a opportunity to reorganize the craft room. It too, is a work in progress. It’s by far not perfect and it’s still not quite the way I want it. It’s not much to look at but it works for me. It’s just quiet enough that I can think reasonably.. let’s face it a constant running of a tv on the news is distracting. I’m sure all crafters can relate. Am I right?

You, the reader have been incredibly awesome to have read this far into my story of the day. I have lost track of how many times I have edited this story. I can not wait to bring you a more structured story and I wanted to give you a heads up of what has been going on for the last few weeks here at Colorful Dimensions 2 Art blogging world. Many thanks and if you would like to keep up with the current happenings you can drop your email here:
