Do you have trouble thinking of your new years resolutions? Do you already have them planned out? I have spent a few days reflecting on what I would like to do. I can say that I’m eager to get started but in small planned out steps. By breaking them down into small steps and schedule a small amount of time for them each day will help insure that the job will either get done or continue on depending what it is. For example, I would like to make a list of prompts to help with art ideas. How many of you journal? I never had journaled. This year I would like to change that and start one.
As part of this years resolutions recognizing that the need for good food has been more important than ever. As the crafting and art experience evolves so does ones diet. I mean the food choices change. I tend to look for meals that are large enough to last a week (this ensures that I’m not spending everyday cooking leaving that extra time to craft.) Including healthier choices into the daily diet after all us crafters need strength to keep going. Food has a tendency to be forgotten about when we crafters are involved with our projects. Its the truth when I state that I have to schedule when to eat or it will just get lost with time. I’m not big on sweets and I leave all pastries to the spouse to devour. They say that drinking water is good for you but I have found that I’m not a fan of plain strait water. I need flavor so a lot of flavored water is my preferred choice. I’m never with out water in the studio/craft room.
Have you ever thought about your health to maintain as a crafter? Let me explain! As a crafter and a business owner it takes tremendous energy to keep up with all the demands. Almost every day I take my vitamins and try to relax my brain for at least 20 min. (not thinking at all). During the summer months I was able to walk around the perimeter of the yard, helping to relieve any anxiety, and excess energy. I should say to calm me down to be able to concentrate drawing or painting. If I’m a nervous cat nothing will get done that requires a steady hand. Another words, calm is my best friend. Now that winter has arrived its become a bit harder to get my quite time and outside exercise. Having light weight dumbbells will help with my upper strength but leaves the bottom half to suffice of running up and down the stairs.
I am so eager for spring to get here. Spring allows me to be outside while using my camera and paint with my watercolors. This spring my hopes are to make it to some shops in the big city where I can indulge in some bright happy colors, see the people, hear the sounds, smell the good and bad odors and maybe get a bite or two. In-store shopping is also in the plans as I’m eager to get my hands on some new products. Do you have a wish list of products that you would like to try? Do you have products to pick up to refill empty ones? Or do you have a need to just get out of the house?
One of my other rituals is to learn to let things go, if possible. I mean, in order to work on the in’s and out’s of planning for the next project some things have got to go. For instance, eliminate anything that has to be cleaned every week, (e. g. dust collectors). Down sizing unwanted items through out the home not just in the craft room. Being proficient in this area is still taking me some time to master. I love my books and magazines. Maybe a little too much. This year is going to be a year to really try to let go of books, magazines and some of those age old clothes in the closet. (Don’t forget the makeup box) Haha. Mascara that’s 20years old.
(This article was created in the hopes you will get motivated just a tad bit earlier than spring cleaning season comes along.) It seems these days we are doing things sooner than the actual scheduled time. I mean Holidays are celebrated sooner, shopping is done sooner, and so on.
I can say that this year is already off to a great start with a few projects created. My hopes that this year brings some amazing ideas from my table to yours. Perhaps you will give them a try your self. Stay tuned as in the coming months projects will get posted. They may get posted here or you can see over on my Instagram page:
