Most of all my art are from reference photos either taken by me or others. All my unfinished projects to finished projects are photographed. I'm married, a mother, and a grandmother. I love animals, music and books. Im always working on something or improving something. I'm a dedicated, a good listener, detailed, and a hard worker.

Turning a new leaf in 2023

I’m looking forward to 2023. I’m hoping to make this years mark with a bark or two. Many long walks, warmer weather, shopping for craft supplies and news of my favorite supplies.

Making changes along the way and completing some mile stones. Finding opportunities where ever they may be. My hope for this year is make more art. Expand my skills and move toward advanced art supplies.

My new schedule consists of squeezing in as much drawing, painting, paper crafts, reading and so much more in every minute available. With this said I have come across many subjects to draw inspiration from. It’s amazing what one can see just by taking a walk around the block.

Below is a leaf pin wheel. There are two layers and when the wind blows they move in opposite directions from each other. I found it rather amusing and it stuck in my head. Just because it stuck in my head I decided I had better draw it as best I can. It’s a crude sketch and it would have been easier if I had taken a photo of it.

My next subject has been in my head for weeks. I tried to sketch it once before but couldn’t quite get the cones in the right shape and size I wanted. I did start with the cones first and the fence is an after effect. These cones are unusual to me as the grow on a vine and they have all dried. It amused me as to the fact they have dried and not one fell off to the ground. There are hundreds of these cones on vines along a 4 foot fence.

Dried cones on fence

The space at the end of my printer paper has been calling for something more. The shapes are visible already to the blank section. Taking each section and carefully execute each mark as if it were my last. Shading lightly to canvas to darker shades. Using a four legged moving target can make any drawing a challenge. A photo would be a better subject piece, however lighting the subject is not ideal. I’m sure he would protest to sitting for a photo op. He’s always on a continuous move as we move about the day.

“Bud”
All in one

Keeping in mind that these are only sketches these are just to not only keep me busy but to also amuse my family member. I don’t do sketches of dogs. This sketch is my first. I hope you enjoy this silly face as “Bud” shows when he’s amused about “My cooking”! He has missed the home cooked meals from his former parents!

I hope that your new year brings you much happiness, prosperity, and inspiration.

To do lists

We couldn’t help ourselves creating this fun to do list using Canva. This fun program has given us tremendous amount of encouragement to achieve higher goals and we simply can not go without them. They have created more tools to accomplish more than we can ever dream of so by celebrating Oct 30 as #checklistday we also celebrate #canva for this very purpose.

Our Holiday Plans

We will be celebrating this Halloween with using our to do list to ensure that we get the celebration off to a good start by adding our own wants and needs. Checking off each of the green boxes to help ensure we complete each task.

Larger to do projects

To make sure that we get those larger projects done. We can break them done into smaller projects. Setting ourselves up to get each task completed.

After all decorating a house with goblins, ghosts, bats and more can be an overwhelming task.

The most important part of the list should be getting all those amazing candies in the right kind of candy container.

We also want to make sure that there is plenty of light for all the participants. After all we wouldn’t want to scare the living daylights out of everyone.

What about food? We look forward to some delicious 😋 food for the big day and we can’t go without Carmel covered apples or even bobbing apples in cider.

We wish you all a ghostly Holiday. Thankyou for reading and being a part of our Colorful Dimensional 2 Arts family!

Here at Colorful Dimensions 2 Arts some things have become a major of importance and so the business had to be set aside for a little while. As we progressed into setting things up and making arrangements for our family member. It became apparent that the business could also be attended to but rather in smaller increments and strategically planned around the necessary needs of a family member. Providing that everything goes as planned.

When time is not a friend

When it comes to running a business the one thing that becomes an issue is time. There is simply not enough time to get all the necessary things done plus work on art. As a business owner and having this issue its time to look for solutions to help combat this problem. As a new business owner the idea of hiring someone to help me is not ideal at the moment. So the next solution is perhaps apps and automation. As a business owner working smarter and not harder is the ideal goal in mind. So with that said lets explore what works and what doesn’t work.

Building a Card Front

Here at Colorful Dimensions 2 Arts after long days working behind the scenes on administrative projects, its time to work on a card front. For the beginning of the project a 1/4 panel from a 8″ X 10″ is used. Using my most favorite ruler proceed to measure equal 1/2″ nicks on either side using my favorite pencil. Careful to note the center of the 1/4 panel. The center is important to note because that’s where we begin our image stamping. More on this later. Back to measuring nicks. After they are all measured out and made certain that’s where the nicks should be. We then want to draw lines and making sure that they are all even. It may take a few tries to get them perfect.

Project Using Scrap Wood

Creative ideas come when you least expect them. From a few magazines to hundreds of ads in the email box. Some will be good and some not so good. But when do we find the time to do them all? This is the question we all face as crafters. The next question is do I have the supplies? Supplies do play a major factor into whether or not we work a particular project. It may be that we are just a few supplies short or need a lot or even have it all. In either case, we need to begin some form of planning to get to the end result.
