My first introduction to greeting cards started when I was born. My parents kept these cards from gifts they received and added them to a baby book. This is not an unusual custom but its worthy of making a statement about it. Family over the years sent cards of all sizes depicting the season or holidays while some were kept and others lost with time.

5 Craft Room Declutter Ideas
What are 5 ways to declutter a craft room? Do you have unrelated items in your craft room? Do you have items in your craft room that you have had for years but never used them? Can you name 5 ways to declutter your craft room? How often do you declutter your craft room? Do you use the same tactics for decluttering the craft room as you do for the rest of the household? How does the clutter of the craft room effect your mood?

Breakdown
Let’s break down each question into smaller bite size chunks. The first question is what are 5 ways to declutter a craft room? According to www.au.reachout.com they advise using these solutions to declutter your mind. A few of the ideas could be applied to decluttering the craft room. So lets take a look at the first few.
- Identify the Problem. (Where do we have the clutter)
- Write it down. (What is the clutter?)
Adding a few of my own here.
- Decide what to keep or not to keep (Here we can write down what to donate or give away).
- Group the same items together in one area.
- Add storage solutions.
- Schedule. (Decide when to declutter, the amount of time to devote to declutter, when to donate or give away unwanted items.)
Overwhelm
If you find that you get overwhelmed by the amount of clutter this is a time to take things a bit slower and divide the room into sections.
For example: * Write down: Section A – E, : (Section A has this…. books, tape, paper, etc.)
By writing down each section and the contents of each section you’ll be more prepared to tackle the section. If you feel that you are still getting overwhelmed. Divide the room even smaller sections up to the point your comfortable to do that particular section with ease.
Tackle
To begin to tackle the declutter. Its recommended to start with the worst section first. Don’t forget to take a before photo (for later). Taking a photo also is helpful to look at when your working on other stuff to help make a plan of what to keep or not keep. When decluttering group items together. This is extra storage bins can come in handy when sorting out stuff or grouping things together.

Schedule
Scheduling when to declutter helps to keep time to a minimum and prevents from over working to the point of being overwhelmed. Depending on the size of the declutter it’s recommended to only work on it a little each day. For example: Date: 8/10 /2021 Declutter, Time: 20 min. Next week: Date: ?/?/?, Time: 20 min., etc. Until the project is completed. Don’t get discouraged just keep going.
Extra Reading
Another article suggests avoid distractions, make it fun and reward yourself. You can find more of their suggestions here: http://www.thesimplictyhabit.com
Unrelated Items
For things that are unrelated to the craft room but your not ready to get rid or can’t get rid of. Can they be stored in a separate container or tub? Can they be stored somewhere else? Do you need a written plan or schedule to move them as well? If so proceed just like above, just a different subject.

Time
What’s the length of time that you had the items in your craft room? Is it new or is it year’s? Another words if it’s something new then it’s still relatively on the market to get more of. If its month’s or year’s then the probability to replace the item or get more of it decreases. In some cases completely obsolete. Its the obsolete items that is the issue here. If its obsolete then the question should be, should we keep it or let it go? The old saying comes to mind, “we can’t keep everything’. If we kept everything then our space or spaces would have no room for the new.
For Fun
Can you name 5 ways you can declutter your craft space? Can you name 5 more? What rewards would you give your self for decluttering? Would you challenge someone you know to declutter their craft room?
Reoccurrence
How often would you declutter your craft room? Perhaps every 6 months is a good start. If need be maybe every year. It depends on how you feel and how often your space gets cluttered. Some of us may need to declutter more often than others. Meaning: twice a month or just four times a year. No one can really answer this question better than yourself.

The rest of the house
Can the same tactics be used for the rest of the home? Absolutely! However, it’s recommended to do each room separately and divide. It’s not recommended to try to do it all at once.

Emotions
How does clutter of the craft room effect your mood? Clutter can stifle creativity in some people while clutter can benefit others. Meaning a little clutter can encourage by giving one something visual to spark an idea. You may be a person that feels debilitated all together over clutter. Another words, have zero tolerance for clutter.

How To Handle Working For Yourself!
Hello Dimensional Readers,
I’m so glad that you have decided to read today’s post. I hope that I can bring some humor, encouragement, and some tips for your daily life. Please do enjoy.
How many of you struggle with finding time for everything while being your own boss working from home? How many of you struggle with getting simple healthy meals together? How many of you struggle with just normal chores while working from home? Do you cook your meals at the same time your working? Do you struggle with just finding time to work at all while dealing with normal life? (Can I raise my hand here?) psst… Did you raise your hand? Ha, good! I’m not alone! (just kidding)

Time
So let’s take a look at how we struggle with finding time for everything while being your own boss working from home. This is for most of us who don’t have a team of people to delegate “work” jobs to. I want to say that for me I did a lot of research to get some kind of perspective of what I was getting myself into before committing to work from home. I can say the struggle is real and I do realize that I’m going to need a team to help with this business if it’s ever going to survive. For now, I’m still in the infancy to crawl stage. I intend to learn everything there is and unfortunately for me, its taking a lot of time. For everything that is learned, its implemented immediately or I will lose the concept. Which this also means that a lot of normal chores I do in my home are somewhat either getting ignored or being put off for another day. So here’s what I learned.
- Except you can not do everything in a day.
- Delegate if you are able.
- List all chores and things that has to be done with-in the home. (Separate list for business)
- Take the list you just made and decided which is the most important ( I picked a few at time and then added to it as time would allow)
- Complete only the tasks, chores or what ever is the most important to you. (note: Time yourself to see how long it takes to do each task or chore. If it takes less than 5 min., don’t write it down on the calendar. Things that take at least 30 min to an hour or so should be placed on the calendar.
- Use a calendar to help delegate which items need to be done at a specific time or day. (note: When starting out, I used this idea a lot. I made my own paper calendar so as to not confuse the spouse on the normal everyday calendar.)
- Color code the holidays so they don’t get lost in the chaos. (note: I used one color for all holidays, another color for birthdays, and another color for days off or days that are just strictly for family.) I would like to mention here that color coding chores is also a great idea as long as they are not the same colors as the ones you used for the holidays, birthdays and so on.
- Look for Items you no longer need. Box them up and deliver then to charity or donate them.
- Put seasonal stuff away.
- Eliminate things that need constant cleaning. Example: dust collectors. Exception to the rule is family heirlooms.
- Down size books, magazines, clothing, etc.,
- Try to limit the amount of items that people brings to you. Example: Craft supplies outside of your normal craft list. Things that don’t mesh with what your doing currently.
I can say that everything on this list is still a working process.
Meals
I would like to say that I’m an expert here but I can’t, despite that I like to cook. I still struggle in this area finding healthy foods to cook that don’t take a ton of time. You may find this amusing and that’s fine by me but my solution is this: I cook foods that I can cook in large batches at a time that will last for at least four days. (2 people here), So a family more than 2 may have to expand even more. So basically, I dedicate one morning to brain storm what we are having for the week according to what I have on hand. I may have to do some research online to see if I have everything to make a particular meal. (These days I have stepped away from normal written cook books). I do write down any recipes that I come across that may be of use.
- Research
- Make a list of what you have
- Make a list of what you don’t have
- Plan ahead meal Plan
- Write down the Meal Plan on a calendar
- Leave room for (spouses who grumble at what’s planned or family)
- Prep a day ahead parts of meal
- Day Of: cook large batches of the meal. Feed. Either freeze or refrigerate or both the left overs.
- Start the next weeks meal Plan.
Now for the most part I have done a lot of these things thru out my working life. There are a few that I have left to the way side after I left the work force outside the home. Now, that I have been working on starting my own business I have found that I need a Meal Plan again.
I would like to point out that making two meal plans might be the ideal thing. One for the frig for the whole family to see and another to put with your chore list and work schedule. This will help insure that you can easily maneuver any items around if need be. (The most important thing is to stay flexible no matter what. There is always going to be some unforeseen thing that come’s up and when it does you will be a bit more prepared for it.)
Today, or I should say lately, my comfort breakfast has become an every other day kind of thing. I’ve been contemplating to having it just on the weekends. You might be wondering what did I replace my breakfast with? I can say that I switched to cold cereal. One day (whole grain), oatmeal another day (fruit added at times), toast and egg, and then my comfort breakfast. (I may have to give up my bacon all together due to bacon shortage.) (p.s. Don’t burn the bottom of your pot steaming your veggies while working like I just did.)
Chores
I have yet perfected getting all my chores done while being a working from home. I can’t imagine anybody else does it all either. If you know someone who can or you are such a person please get a hold of me. I would love to know your secrets. Maybe you would indulge me to tell the rest of the hard working people. (note: I can say that projects that are a one time thing or things that have to be repaired rarely are easy to knock off the list. Its the constant every day chores that are the issue and/ or the things that get pushed off to the side constantly that need to get done that are not getting done.) Hmmm,,, maybe those should be done first? What do you think?
Some Things Don’t Always Mix
As you read above that steaming a pot of cauliflower doesn’t always mix well with working. Sometime one can get lost in their work that they can forget to check on the meal cooking. To help combat this is to turn on the timer for everything that is cooking. (Ya, I should practice what I preach! For the most part I do use a timer. It’s just this time I have to buck this system to only be rained back in to do the old stand by and use the timer.) (To tell you the truth, I didn’t think this would take that long but I was wrong.) (smile)
Exercise
I nearly forgot to add exercise. For me, I keep exercise simple for now. Another words, taking a short walk out side in the morning just enough to get the heart pumping helps build my strength and durance. Maybe running up and down the staircase could get the ticker going. One thing to keep in mind if your sitting for long periods of time is to get up every hour. This is another area of mine where I could easily lose track of time. There are many different types of exercises that can be done to build strength and durance. Its just a matter of finding what works for you and where you think you could fit it in your schedule. I can say I’m no exercise guru or an expert and all exercise should be approved by your physician. This is just my opinion I’ve what I do.
Pesky Everyday Life Interfering With Work
This is incredibly important. Those pesky interference in life just might need to be taken care of and put work on hold. Sometimes those pesky things are things that end up being important in the long run. So don’t ignore them or put them off for too long. Do them quickly as you can so that you are able to get back to work. ‘Patients is a virtue.” I can say I’m still working on my patients, durance and skills. I can say learn to except that there are things that you can’t change so just go with it. As most people would say, “it’s part of life and deal with it.” So here is my solution: I plan for the unexpected. I plan work related stuff around what I anticipate pesky life moments. Example: When a someone needs help with a wood splinter pulled out of their finger. (for real here, true story)
I want to point out that this is by far perfected but I’m trying to do a bang up job of doing it. Thanks for reading this if you made it to here. Craft Offerings at Dollar Store and Dollar General

If your a beginner card maker and you don’t have a big budget. Many items can be found at Dollar General and the Dollar store. You might be asking how do I know this? I’m a frequent shopper of Dollar General and the Dollar Store. I occasionally use their products making cards.
There are many products to choose from at Dollar General for example: Card bases with envelopes (pkg. 20), jewels (big and small, various colors), variety of stickers, glue, water color paints, pens, color pencils, puff paint, water base Acrylic paint and so much more.
At Dollar Tree there is mounting tape, glitter paper, foil paper, stickers, glue, hot glue sticks, paint, watercolor paints, color pencils, pens and if your lucky stamps. There’s more and way too many to list them all.
Not all Dollar Stores and Dollar Generals are created equal. You may need to travel to many shops to get that one thing you want. However, the cost factor out weighs the cost of a the major craft stores. It is also a major save when it comes to ordering products on line.
I have used most of all the products offered by both of these store’s/companies. I still use some of their products to this day.

When you become a bit more confident in your card building skills, you can add to your stash with more popular products. I will admit that card making is not a cheap adventure, if your wanting all the latest tools and popular products. Building your stash takes time. Keep in mind that there will always be some new product or some new stamp. I recommend picking only that makes you happy and something that you think you will use over and over again. I don’t recommend picking the items that are trends. I can tell you I have been building my stash for year’s and I’m still not where I want to be. However, I am closer to my goal and so will you. But that’s another story for another day. This is suppose to be about craft supplies and where to get them as a new card crafter.
I can tell you that there are just a few things you may need that are not available at either of these stores. That is a bone folder, a score board, a paper trimmer and a guillotine. The bone folder isn’t exactly needed but it’s a nice addition to secure mounting tape or reinforce the fold of a card base.
I can also tell you from experience you want to watch for those extraordinary items that just pop up out of the blue at either of these stores mentioned. For example: Washi tape. (I was super excited to find it and I walked around like a kid in the candy store.)
Technically this was suppose to be about my favorite Dollar store crafts. I can tell you that story was too short for this platform and to tell you the truth I wanted to get away from making this all about me. I wanted this to be about you too.

If you really want to know the answer to the question……my most favorite craft item in the whole store(s). It’s…… It’s…. ITS STICKERS! I love stickers and I will happily admit I’m a sticker hoarder. I love my stickers so much that some don’t even stick anymore. Sad isn’t it. I grieve over the loss of just one sticker. So if you can imagine.

Unexpected Rough Times
Hello and Welcome to this weeks post(s). If you have been wondering where I have been these last few days an unexpected rough patch came for me here at Colorful Dimensions 1014. I can not discuss the matter too much. I’m okay, four legged friends are okay, spouse is okay, and business is okay. I do want to mention that when these rough times do come along, it’s really hard to pick one self up and run a business. It’s hard to be on top of everything when your world just crashes. I gave my self permission to grieve for a few days but decided it wasn’t going to bring me down so far that I lose interest in my followers and my business.
I took part of my time to paint another canvas (Dollar General). It’s just a simple canvas and my craft room needed one more add to make it more me. I really liked the saying when I first bought the canvas. However this week the phrase made the meaning, different. I’m not so sure I want it on my wall. I wasn’t even certain I wanted to paint it. It took some convincing for myself to even paint it.
I decided that I will go ahead and paint it. Follow thru with the original plan and see where it leads. It took me roughly two days to paint it. It’s all done now. All water base acrylic used this time and one micro (black) pen. I also went a little wild by adding some stickles glitter. I’m tempted to add some (gold) deco foil. What do you think? See below before and after pictures without the gold deco foil. In some ways it turned out nice and in another makes me ask myself what I was thinking with the background.

What are your thoughts. See below the finish version and hanging as we speak.

On to another subject: This became a good time to clean this part of the craft room. It needed it bad. All paper and fabric flowers into one drawer. Buttons into one glass bin. Super long tablets found a drawer that is long enough to handle it. All unnecessary items found a temporary home outside of the craft room. Some items are going to go live with someone else and some will be donated. My point is this, don’t let a bad week take you down so far that you no longer want to function but rather turn the bad into a positive. Clean something, organize something, paint, draw, or do what ever it takes to get your mind off the problem. Grieve yes! Wallow in in it no.

Don’t feel Defeated by Machines
I want to say that I really didn’t want to miss you all but the last few days have been a bit of a whirl wind. I have been anxiously awaiting for a new printer. It finally arrived while I had to go to town for a appointment. While this is not about my appointment or about the date I had with my spouse. I want to just say it was a nice day and it felt good to be out of the house after several months of being cooped in. It felt good to have the sun warm my soul. Needless to say, we were in town all day. (to ourselves with masks on when needed.) By the time we got home we were to wore out. The only thing that I had enough energy for was to open the packages that came in the mail. A nice pretty purple, simple printer. Lightweight and moveable. Unlike the big one we have that is heavy, a pain to run, died a few years ago and its currently not liking me at all. When I reflected back on yesterday, it has occurred to me that I really missed watching people, the smell of the mills, the sounds of the cars, the flowers, the business of the people going into stores, the trees (flowering type) and just so much more.
Today, I thought I would be brave and plug that cute, new, printer in. Um, No instructions, No software, and this could not be a good sign. Well, I got this.. right… Plug cords in and turn on.. Oh got to put the ink in. Shut off and put the ink in. Turn back on. Run up the stairs to grab the paper. Lets see if this little baby is going to work. So much excitement just got deflated when I see these flashing lights….. no paper going thru. Whyyyyy?? Whyyyy me??? This voice says stop and check everything. Cords are plugged in, the ink cartridges are in, button is on. I know change the paper. Maybe it don’t like the paper. Run back upstairs and find different paper. Tried that and nope that didn’t work either. Hmm well, there is another cord and lets hook up the computer and lets try some trouble shooting. Well I found out that HP is doing away with paper instructions. Nice to know! Ha! Yes, found software. Downloaded and went thru all the appropriate steps. Well, that still didn’t solve the problem. HP had me download an update on the software that I just downloaded. Can you believe that? But low and behold it told me that something was jammed in the printer. Really!!! Yep, that smart little cookie printer was right. I pulled out this piece that made me want to panic as I thought oh boy, this thing must have got broken on its trip here. Luckily, I did send an item from my computer to the printer. I wish you all could see how I excited I am over this sweet little printer. I’ve been printing everything that is important that’s been on my computer for sometime. Mostly one pagers, or two. But I have some biggies that are going to take a lot of ink. I’m a bit stingy with my ink for the moment until I can order more ink. Anyway, I just want to say here this has been a long but eventful day. (my computer has been complaining that it has a full memory) I’ve been dumping files where ever I can. You tube videos take a lot of memory. I do hope that I can get back to my favorite pass time soon. The next couple of weeks is going to be extremely busy. There is still a lot to learn, do, and not do. My point for this post is this. If, you get a new machine. Don’t let it defeat you. Don’t be afraid of it. There is always a solution somewhere. When you beat it, give your self a pat on the back. You deserve and earned it.

Cute little purple printer. Blue tape was replaced after use so our four legged friends wouldn’t break the plastic parts.

Revision
This article was first published April 30, 2021 and September 19, 2021 the article was revised to add color to the text and to provide structure to a sentence.
Kindness save’s a friend

I have gone thru a whole week retrospectively happy reading e-mails, checking (FB), play on Instagram, checking Redbubble saving YouTube for last. Scrolling thru the videos to see which one I want to watch first. I stopped short reading a tittle “I’m ready to Quit!”. I was stunned. Here somebody I adore and I wanted to scream at her “Oh No u don’t!”. I didn’t get all the way thru the video. I was compelled to contact her. I let her know how I felt and that she is loved.
The next day she posted another video completely different head line. She had explained how other people’s words meant to her besides mine. (The outpouring was a blessing) Sometimes we just need to connect to that one person to make a world of difference.
My point is this, please be kind to yourself and to others. ( to help protect her privacy and her family I conveniently left out her name) ( this is in response to answer assignment 11. Prompts) https://www.dailypost.Wordpress.com
Using what you have or improvise
I recently read a word press post on a New Years Card. Beautiful Card! Reading the description she explained she had stamps for this particular season and she had misplaced them. Instead of spending time looking for them she improvised by finding what she needed right from her computer. My point is this: not everything has be made with stamps or dies. Just as cleaver embellishments are made from what is available at hand. I think that it makes the card all that more special. I also want to point out that this is part of a assignment for word press (day 9). I also want to add that I’m slightly impatient as these classes or assignments need to move a tad bit faster for me.. sooooo I’m doing my best to add buttons.

The Journey Begins
Thankyou for joining me!
Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton

I started on my blogging journey sometime ago. This is an updated version of the journey I’m currently on. I never dreamed that I would be blogging. I’m more of the person who listens to other peoples stories. I’m the quiet one. I don’t entertain. I’d rather be entertained. However, things change. I have changed and decided that I need to do something that I thought about years ago but never had the chance to or like I said above, I never thought Id be blogging. Hope you enjoy and if you have any tips and tricks let me know. Thanks in advance.
Update
16 September 2021 is a day of reflection and to take notice of how far I have traveled in this journey. I would have not gotten this far without all of you who are here with me to encouraging me along and my higher creator. My hopes is to continue to bring you forward along with me on this journey and see where it takes me in the future. The more I learn will always be applied to the stories so stay tuned to the ever changing journey. You may find amusement in reading the article titled Assignment 2. This is when I felt that I needed to learn a few things. As of today I can say that I still have not learned everything about blogging. I can tell you that blogging is very complex yet so simple. If you plan on following along in my foot steps or someone else you admire… don’t quit your job… you need the $$ to get started and its an on going $$ take away due to the legal side of things. I’m not going to go into great detail about blogging here as it would take to long and there is so many blogging materials out there already. I recommend that you just start reading and take a lot of notes.. think of this as a marriage… its for life especially when you invest what you have into blogging. There have been a few times where I really questioned myself if I was doing the right thing. My response to the that last sentence is “Yes, I am.” Something keeps me moving forward. With that said, I do wish you luck and I will always offer my support to any person brave enough to embark on this journey.
2021 Upcoming Holidays
I’m so excited that Halloween is soon up on us. I’m more for the cute side of Halloween stuff. I’m a zero fan of the scary side of Halloween. This Halloween I’m hoping to add to my Halloween art collection by adding a Halloween banner to the stash. There is so much I want to accomplish for Halloween that I’m uncertain that I will get it all done. For each Project completed I will give you an update from the beginning to the end.
Even more exciting is that Thanksgiving is also close by. That means planning now to ensure that the home is on its way to be in ship shape for anticipated company. Planning a head also insures that Thanksgiving dinner supplies will be on the ta do list. Now is the time to try that new recipe before the big day. We don’t want to forget to think of all the things that we are thankful for and the awesome Parade. I don’t know about you but I have to see the parade. Don’t forget to add the fall candles to your shopping list. Don’t you just love the smells of cinnamon and pumpkin? What are your thoughts on Fall and Thanksgiving Day crafts? I’m anxious to get started on Fall and Thanksgiving crafts.
Planning now also ensures that Christmas list shopping. Feeling overwhelmed yet?? Ha, ha.. Start planning now helps keep the anxiety at bay. Starting a Christmas shopping list for gifts for each person will help you get a head start on the shopping. Don’t forget to start the shopping list for the Christmas Eve and Christmas meals. Find those recipes that you wanted to do last year and do them now, before the holiday arrives. After all we don’t want to serve something that ends up less than appealing on the very day. Now is also the time to think of you Holiday color scheme or theme. What about those Christmas Crafts that you want to work on? Now is also the time to start working on those as well. If you are like me… I’m already feeling overwhelmed just the thought of it all. I know that having lists will help keep me on the calmer side of things.
Have you given much thought to what you want to do for New Years eve or New Years Day? What about Your New Years resolution? I will admit I haven’t made it this far either. I Look forward to the Year 2022. Perhaps, you have decluttering the craft room in mind. If so you may want to take a look at 5 Craft Room Declutter Ideas or maybe you will want to further your education or brush up on skills. To give you some inspiration you maybe interested in these posts to read Assignment 2, Kindness save’s a friend, and Those annoying things you avoid!.
I want to point out that you don’t want to forget the Birthday’s throughout these upcoming months. For all who have a birthday in these coming months— I want to wish you now a “Happy Birthday!” Do you have any Birthday crafts in mind to make during the upcoming holiday season? I do! I will share at a later time in the meantime maybe you would be interested in Using what you have or improvise.
